The idea of making a sculpture from a block made of cubes in different color, has been around for some time; in marble it would have been much more complicated, instead with ayous and okume' woods, that are soft, it has been easy to cut the cubes in precisely way and get the block ready for work on it. The sculpture can rest stably in many positions and on the transparent plexiglass base with the flexible rod in the centre. It has been applied natural danish oil and bee wax to protect the surface. Even on wood I usually sculpt with electric rotary machine, but this two kind woods are soft and with the gouges is easy to go deep, this allow me to sculpt in a close space as the studio, because during the work not dust is made. To get the cubes precise is important otherwise, the misalignment given by the imprecision of the cut, can be seen in the joints. To smoothe the surface it has started with sand paper 40,then 80, 120,180 and at the end 320, so many becouse due to the forms, the directions of the wood grain can't be respeced.
